Why Jubilee?
The concept of a Jubilee year heralds from Old Testament times. When the Israelites were a fledgling nation, God instructed them to enact the wonderfully compassionate year of Jubilee – the period following a 49-year cycle during which all debts were to be forgiven, prisoners set free, slaves released, and property returned to original owners (Leviticus 25).
The Jubilee was a time of forgiveness, redemption and rest: a powerful picture of God’s provision for his people through Christ’s work on the cross – and the very reason for EBCG’s existence.

Rejoicing over the past is only a part of the celebration – anniversaries also look to the future. In this Jubilee year and beyond, we desire to see God's continued work in and through EBCG. The possibilities are numerous: expanding numbers, growing unity, a building to call home, increased impact on the community, revival in the city, unexpected blessings. Who can imagine what the Lord will do?
In all of this, our hearts and our longing remain focused on the central goal for our Jubilee celebration: to recognize all that the Lord has accomplished, and to praise and honor His name in this generation and beyond. Glory to God!
