The Outpouring Initiative
The Outpouring Initiative, started by EBCG members, aims to raise awareness about disabilities and promote inclusion within the church by recognizing the valuable contributions of people with disabilities. With over 40% of the population affected by disability, the initiative highlights the importance of embracing and empowering this significant part of the community.
According to the World Health Organization, a disability results from the interaction between individuals with a health condition and environmental and/or social factors that hinder their full participation in society. There are different approaches to disability, the medical model and the social model.
The Medical Model focuses on the person’s absence of functioning: physical, sensory, emotional, or developmental, and it requires medical help.
The Social Model states that a disability is a socially created problem and not an attribute of the individual, the interaction of a person's condition and the barriers created by society.
Our mission is to foster an environment where all persons with disability are included in the body of Christ.

Created Equal and All are Part of the Body of Christ
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27
Every person is uniquely created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and is wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). People with disabilities are equally part of the body of Christ and receive the Holy Spirit to serve and build up the church (1 Corinthians 12:4–27). When the church includes everyone, it reflects God's love and becomes a place of mutual blessing. So Far, We Have...Raised awareness about disability within the church leadership and community:
